About me

Andrea has two university degrees, one in landscape planning with special focus on soil science from BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, and one in applied and computational mathematics from the University of Oxford. At the University of Oxford, Andrea was also visiting scientist in 2004/5 in the group of Tiina Roose. Andrea did her PhD in the group of Walter Wenzel in the area of rhizosphere ecology and modelling; her habilitation in the group of Willibald Loiskandl was in the field of soil physics for which she received the Klaus Fischer Innovation Award from BOKU - University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, in 2013. Since 2014, Andrea is currently jointly appointed W2 professor at the Forschungszentrum J├╝lich and the University of Bonn, with the main research topic in modelling soil- root systems, and rhizosphere processes. Her research interests incluce mathematical modelling, rhizosphere, soil-root interactions, root architecture, mycorrhiza, ressource acquisition efficiency and fate of plant protection products in the soil-root system.
